V-Brake Pads?
 

I'm building up my first mountain bike and I purchased a nearly new set of V-brakes on E-Bay. The calipers themselves are identical, but one pair has a wider pad than the other. Does the wide pad go on the front or rear wheel?

If I understand what you're saying(I've been out of the loop on new parts for awhile), I would put the wider/thicker pad set up front since they tend to wear more quickly. If I didn't understand what you're trying to say, disregard.

Ah, missed the "nearly new" part.

Fair assumption, but not so. All four pads are marked with the same part number so they are obviously part of a set. These brakes were a take-off from a new bike after very little use so I believe they are original equipment.

I was able to determine from the angle of the shoes that the wider pads had indeed been on the front wheel.

Does it say or can you tell what brand/model pads those are? Never heard of that before. Kinda makes sense, tho.

Not new.
Replacement cartridge pads are nice for v-brakes.
