UPDATE - Mark Reynolds Lawsuit

Hey All;

The other day I posted a letter that I wrote addressing the pending lawsuit by the Reynolds family against the county of Orange. The letter was in regards to their claim of negligence, on the behalf of the county, in the mountain lion attack that killed their son, Mark Reynolds, in January of last year. (for more information on this, please see the following thread: Link .)

I have good news to report: Through our efforts of writing the family, contacting advocacy groups and maintaining a high degree of respectfulness towards Mark and the family’s situation throughout, the Reynolds family has instructed their attorneys to cease any and all further legal action involving Mark’s death. There will be no lawsuit and, as a result of this, there is one less threat to our keeping our beloved trails open for business.

I guess the moral of this story is simply this: you CAN make a difference. Every day people sit idly by while their trails get closed or their use limited because of misinformation and lack of action. It doesn’t have to be that way. Take the time to write a letter and organize the “powers that be” within your community and let the people/groups that threaten your access know that you WILL fight back. While you’re not going to win all the time, and most battles certainly won’t be as easily fought as this one, you can win some of the battles and you can keep your trails open.

P.S. This also has broader implications for life in general; don’t sit on your butt and watch the world go by. If you something wrong it’s never going to get right unless someone takes the first step towards making it right. In this case it was as simple as writing a letter and sending it to A LOT of people.

Congrats, and thanks!

It's a pretty cool feeling to have had at least some part in helping maintain our trail access.

That's great news.

Good job. I couldn't imagine how bad it would be for you guys if they'd pursued it.

Glad to see another frivolous lawsuit dropped....

Kinda like that Dude that got bitten in half ten days ago, and his family wanting to sue the Navy or someone for allowing the shark to be in the water....

I'm not sure I get it. There's no mention of a lawsuit anywhere in that article.

That's my point.... It would be similarly stupid if they "tried" to sue because of the shark attack, like the cougar attack.... Get it now?
