which forks?
Dear all,
I'm building up a Giant XCT Advanced frame frame from 2009 and want to fix some rigid forks. I'm unsure of the length and rake I should be looking for! The original stats can be found here http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/B...l=XtC+Advanced and the Forks I'm thinking of buying here CarbonCycles.CC :: Components :: Products Any advice gratefully received. |
Given that the original spec for the XTC Advanced was 100-130mm, that corresponds with the 44.5cm going on their specs for suspension correction CarbonCycles.CC :: Components :: Products :: Forks - MTB Carbon (UD) 1.1/8 inch Steerer :: eXotic UD Carbon Rigid MTB Fork - Disc Only Post Mount :: CC-F0M45
You could run the 46.5cm version CarbonCycles.CC :: Components :: Products :: Forks - MTB Carbon (UD) 1.1/8 inch Steerer :: eXotic UD Carbon Rigid MTB Fork - Disc Only Post Mount :: CC-F0M65 as this is corrected for 130mm, but what we don't know is which end of the travel you are currently planning to run the frame at. |
Thanks jimc101, that definitely helps! The original forks (Fox 32 F100RL, 100 - 130mm adjustable travel) had a lockout but no lock out threshold which I think means that the lockout hight would vary depending on how you adjusted the travel. I think I'm after a low front end and as we're only talking about 3cm (1cm for the rigids) I think I'll go for the 44.5cm unless anyone can think of a huge problem? By the way is the rake unimportant?
