Aquired a Fuji Nevada 200?, help with year ID, Keep, upgrade, or wrong purchase?

Yep, long title, but simple questions. I recently rode some rough Cuyuna range trails and had a blast on a rigid fork '90 mtb. Learned fast to keep a loose grip else my hands would get just smacked on the hard bars. My riding style is just plain push hard and hang on. (Only been on a couple singletrack rides) So today just picket this Fuji Nevada for $100, looks clean, just needs a little TLC.

The other questions I have are related to riding rough singletrack. Cannot find any info on the M7700 suspension fork. Is it just a spring and does that actually help on rough singletrack? If this is a better bike than my others, maybe swapping in a rigid fork but really don't know enough to understand why.

Can you help me identify what year (supposed to be 2007 but cannot find matching paint scheme on Bikepedia. I was hoping for a lighter bike with better components than my '90 Giant Butte or Raleigh M20. (I have a thread over in Mechanics forum but that is probably the wrong forum, and had a little different questions.)

Ya, very close. Components about right. The paint scheme gives it away. Picture shows the same fork I have but designates it as RST 321 SL. I'm really curious about the fork - suspension. Is it any good on singletrack - I keep picturing a spring w/o shocks.... RST 321 SL, 3.0" travel
