New Bike? Cheap Raleigh

Hello all,

Ok so i want to get an entry level Mountain bike. The lower cost the better. I wont be doing anything extreme. Mostly city riding(all weather conditions), veryy few trails or dirt. That being said my local bike shop has the Raleigh 3.0 Talus for $279. Now, should i jump on that deal or should i consider another bicycle???

My max budget is 300 but i might consider 400 if its a realllyyy good deal.

Assuming i like all bikes (comfort, riding feel, etc...) what other bike would be a bit better bang for the buck than the Raleigh? Rockhard? Trek 3 Series?

Opinions are welcomed. Not to harsh though. haha.

Thank YOu

P.S- Im replacing my Trek 6500 since it got stolen
