Need advice on a Diamondback recoil pro!!!

Ive been looking into buying a mountain bike to start crusing local trails and etc..... I just stumbled upon Dicks Sporting Good website and noticed they have the Diamondback Recoil Pro on sale for 899.00. I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on weather this is a good beginner mountain bike or not. Thanks

That looks like a great deal to me. Should be fine for a beginner and something that would work fine for you long after you're past being a beginner.

Good points about the bike are that, for the price, you'll be getting suspension components that aren't crap, decent brakes, and okay components in general.

It's likely a little heavy which is to be expected for budget mountain bikes.

It's a single pivot design, so you're going to get pedal bob. That seems to bother some people more than others. The specs say the rear shock has lockout which is very good to have with that type of pivot design.

Still, for a full suspension bike that isn't some Walmart piece of junk, that's a very nice buy. It's a real mountain bike and you can use it for real mountain biking.

Looking at the specs that is a screaming deal. You would have a hard time finding a hard tail with those specs for the price. The issue has already been pointed out that it has a very simple and dated rear suspension design. I have a diamondback sortie which is their next level up full suspension bike, different design, and am really happy with it. You won't impress any of your fellow riders with a diamondback sticker on the side of the frame but when you tell them how much you paid they will be impressed.
