Tell me about fat tire racing .

I see that cycling usa will have a fat bike championship.

My only experience with a fat bike is one afternoon on a borrowed bike and it has been many years since I've participated in a group activity.

Is there any thing particularly different between ftb and mtb races in terms of course layout? Sort of like you could use an mtb in cx, but its not really the appropriate bike because of course layout. What would make using an mtb a hindrance in an mtb other than rules limiting tire size? Does it tend to be seasonal? Wet weather and muddy courses are perfect conditions for CX in a warped way. Sand or snow make a perfect race for ftb? Tell me more about the culture and techniques
