50 and still counting.
When I was a kid we didn't have mountain bikes... heck, we didn't even have mountains.

I'm 35, been riding forever!
I started racing BMX at 11, got my first bike shop job at 15, started road riding in college, and bought a mountain bike (more like a current COMFORT bike) my freshman year. I rode that thing all over the place. Don't know how that bike survived. When I was a Junior, became friends with a guy with a 'Real' mountain bike and that summer I bought one, it was a GT Karakorum. That was back in '90 or '91, maybe as late as '92, I'm getting so old I can't remember.

Throw the stick!!!!
I'm 29, been back to riding for about 4 years now. I took about an 8 year break when I primarily just drank and smoked. Rode for quite a while before my stupidity years as well.

I'm 41 and have been riding for about 8 years. Most of the people I ride with are 28 or older. I almost never see anyone who looks younger than 25 out on the trails. Most of the teenagers I see are downtown doing urban stuff. I always figured it's because most of the good riding is a 45 minute drive away........

36, riding trails since I was 8 or so, but when I got my license at 16 I ended up taking several years off from bicycling.
Probably just as well since I was wasted all the time, at least I had the car to protect me if something happened (Kidding!)

i'm 34.
i ride with riders from 14 to 65... usually in the 20-40 age range.
last weekend on a downhill/freeride weekend using the lift where we rode 33,000 vertical feet of technical trails (i usually ride uphill also), for 2 rides we met up with a group of 5 local riders (in Italy) and one was only 14 - everyone else had full suspension freeride/downhill bikes and he was on an XC hardtail with 80mm fork! he was naturally slower but rode ALL the technical sections. respect!
i've been seriously into mountain biking since 1997.
was into road racing in college before that. (didn't know what a mountain bike was until 1990 and thought it was "weird" as it was so "slow" compared to a road bike)
pretty much since i was about 3 years old there were only 3 years where i didn't bike a lot: from 16 to 18 when i got my driver's license and driving was "cool" and biking "not cool"... oh, well, it took me 2 years to learn that riding is way cooler than driving.
oh, plus there were a few years around 21-23 where i rode my motorcycle more than my bicycle, but later sold the motorcycle as i rarely rode it.
the majority of the serious mountain bikers i see are in the 20-40 age range. most of the "youngsters" seem too lazy or like i was and think biking is "uncool" or whatever, although there are some that ride quite well and i like riding with the 14-22 crowd every so often as they tend to have a lot different style doing a lot more jumps and tricks and whatnot...
age is (mostly) just in your head. at least in mountain biking that is true. i am better technically now and more "aggressive" than ever... and am pretty much as fit as i ever was (was probably most fit around 31 before my ACL injury from skiing when i was concentrating on racing) - now i concentrate mostly on technical freeriding and only race some
but it's cool to see so many <18 posters! hope to see you guys out on the trails too!

21. I had about 2,500 dirt miles under me by 14 (I went to a 'outward bound' type school, but not for bad kids). I got my license, and forgot about bikes until I was 19, when I built up a track bike. I have been riding every day since then, with 15-20 dirt miles 3 times a week.
