Phoenix mountain bikes?
 

I recently won an auction with 2 bikes. One is a phoenix tremor. I cannot find much info about the model/company and what quality they manufactured. It has shimano sis braking and shifting , quick release tire, and I believe was from a local bike shop. I'm going to call the shop tomorrow and see if they have any info on the brand. From what I can tell it was an intermediate/value bike, better than a huffy, super cycle, walmart/canadian tire bucket but by no means a hardcore off roading mountain bike (does not have a suspension system/shocks- rides ok though). It seems like a great city commuter/winter bike. I've been riding it in the snow with no problems I'm bummed I do not have room for it at my place. Any insight on the phoenix brand is greatly appreciated. I would rate it's condition as average. I brought it to the local community bike center and just did a tune up and some replacements/maintenance so it needs nothing I didn't ask approximate value (I'm still hanging onto the idea of just chaining it somewhere nearby). Is $45-55 an appropriate asking price? (I'm located in toronto so it's 55-70 Canadian). photo is from the auction listing I have not taken any pics after cleaning and tune up

Never heard of 'em. Could be a Canadien Tire brand. Or maybe lowend MEC offering back in the day? Rigid forks on lowend bikes like this are actually a bonus. Cheep suspension forks suck way more than cheep rigid forks.

I'd ask $40, be perfectly happy taking first offer over $20.

$40 is about a week of public transit here, so yeah I'd rather keep it as a backup bike chained offsite and take my chances with the bike thieves in case my project miele gets stolen. I've checked local toronto listings before, the sub $50 bikes are always junk brands and often falling apart, at best they "need tuning", a lot need overhauls (parts and labor are more than their $20-40 value). After giving it some thought I'm really not willing to part with it for much less than what I just listed it at ($65), that's only 10 transit round trips and there are parts of this city that I do not want to ride a road bike to...I guess I'll see if anyone is interested if not I'll ride it until I can get the miele on the road in the spring (and probably still keep it if storing it on the public bike rack down the block isn't to much of a hassle).

I'd singlespeed that thing, lookit them horizontal dropouts just begging for it!

Also pull those road quill pedals, and get some cheep BMX platforms.
