New rotor, poor stopping power?
I'm wondering what's up with this.
I received a replacement for a rotor that was warped out of the box, and the new rotor feels like it has very little stopping power. Any ideas of what could be going on? The new rotor is visibly different than the old one. Any chance they sent the wrong part?
The new rotor looks like this:
TEKTRO BRAKE SYSTEMS
It's going on a 29'' Diamondback Recoil.

You may need to break in the new rotor. It won't perform to its full potential until the pads & rotor are properly "bedded in" with each other. Here are a couple of videos talking about the process:

Hi guys!
Just wanted to let you know, I tried some of the steps above and it's made a huge difference.
I've been working on bedding in the rotors and now I can actually stop. a little more effort and I think they'll be good (or better) than new.
