che_lives90 04-13-05 07:28 PM

a fork?

Maelstrom 04-13-05 07:31 PM

thats a really versatile frame. Whats you intended use

Snuffleupagus 04-13-05 07:34 PM

Whatever you do, you can't go wrong with a SRAM drivetrain.

Out damn Shimano.

kcirtap 04-13-05 10:55 PM

put a marzocchi 66 on the front *hears the song Big Pimpin'*
although imo you would want a differnt color frame to offset that big honkin' black fork

Dude a frame like that deserves only high quality components. What's the intended use?

Everyone has strenths and weakness. For example:

British - Humor
German - Engineering
French - Food

You don't want:

British - Food
German - Humor
French - Engineering

Here are the "best" folks in the MTB world:

Shifting - SRAM
Cranks - Shimano, Trutativ(EXTERNAL bearings only)
Fork - Marzocci, Rock Shox
Bars/Post - Easton
Rubber - Panaracer, Hutchinson, WTB
Hubs - Shimano, Chris King, Swiss, Hugi
Rims- Mavic, Sun
Headset - Cane Creek, Chris King
Brakes - Avid, Hayes, Hope
Pedals - Crank Bros, Time

Replace the Zocci with a Fox for the fork and you have a pretty good setup there. Marzocci's XC forks aren't even close to Fox's.

thats 90% B.S. ISIS is good for 90% of the riders out there. I dont think Chris king and Race face would also make ISIS if it was that bad. Been running my Stylo Teams without issue. But truvativ makes some of the best cranks imo, hussefelts great stuff

Maelstrom 04-14-05 06:47 PM

This thread is hillarious. What about raceface and fsa for cranks. Shimano hubs are garbage, they are heavy and have low engagement points, they hold value simply because of how cheap they are. isis is bad, I am not touching that as thats just a foolish statement based on someone reading too much into marketting hype. Thomson seatpost make easton look like tinfoil...fsa headset?...

I will wait till the guy tells us how he plans to build the bike up before I start offering up parts to use. Thats what determines the parts. And who said this is a xc build. Its and asx people. Its a freaking freeride frame (a dead sexy one at that).
