Hi all!
Hi all,
I think I have posted here maybe once or twice, but never really introduced myself. So, I have had a mountain bike for about a year now (lower end Cannondale) and have slowly buy surely getting into the sport. By no means am I fantastic (or consistent - I road bike and bike commute as well).

Pretty decent bike for being at the bottom of the line up (The frame is pretty great, the rest of it leaves some areas to be desired). Lately I have been thinking of trying out a FS bike. So, I found a Proflex frame on the Craigslist with a bunch of parts for not very much money.

Not everything is there, but I have access to a bunch of parts and have been finding pretty good deals. It won't be built up as original (I am not spending the money a Girvin fork would make me shell out). The rear shock no longer has elastomers - it has been replaced with a spring. I have a Manitou Mars Super coming in for the front. The rest of it is honestly going to be a bit of a Frankenbike. But I figure it is a relatively inexpensive way to try it and see how much I like it.

Rideable it will be, a great experience,, yeah Id do it...
A 16 year old lower end full suspension will be fun but don't judge modern full suspension bikes by riding that one.
Don't take it down black diamond trails unless you got a pretty full bag-o-tricks mixed in with some real experience in your pocket...
Put It together and go for a ride !
Remember, your Cannondale is a very capable bike by design...
You build up any real speed going down a hill and It gets bumpy that back,,shock err spring will pop you up and over the handle bars...

Mountain biking is about having fun in great places. You will enjoy what you have. I also enjoy tweaking with parts.
You just get busy and have a blast. Post more pictures, the CDale looks great.

I love my CDale, and while it has low end components, it shifts, it moves, it stops just fine. That front fork though....that is the one thing I am absolutely not a fan of. I wonder if I can change out the springs on it for something stiffer? Once I finish my proflex build, I think saving for a new mid level fork is going to be the next project.
