Syringa/Bellevue Bike Skills Parks Open House planned for March 23

Missoula Parks and Recreation and Missoula County Parks, Trails and Open Lands would like to invite citizens to a public open house to preview plans for two new bike skills parks on Wednesday, March 23. The Syringa and Bellevue park designs feature high-quality bike skill amenities within a neighborhood park setting. Neighborhood and community residents are encouraged to attend.

The meeting will be held in Southgate Mall Community Meeting Room on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.

In December, 2015 Parks & Recreation and County Parks, Trails and Open Lands hosted design workshops for Syringa and Bellevue Parks, where neighborhood residents identified park values, user interests and guiding principles for the master plans. The design team has combined resident's ideas for both Syringa and Bellevue Parks into two draft park plans which are awaiting public review and comment prior to adoption.

A master park plan for Bellevue Park has been in place since 2014, and recent design efforts have been focused on the development of a bike skills area for youth. At Syringa Park, the park design includes a dynamic and progressive bike skills park aimed at youth ages 5-17.

A master park plan provides an overall framework for planning, design, development and maintenance of a park. Through a collaborative design process to date, citizens have helped create a master plan for Syringa Park and the two bike skill facilities.
