Colorado Springs cycling scene

My wife and I may be relocating to Colorado Springs for work, just wondering what the cycling scene is like up there? I'm from Texas and really just now getting into cycling. I see there's several shops in town, how bike friendly is the town and surrounding areas?

I was there for a few months back in 2006 but didn't really leave Ft. Carson. My only memory of the town is Rumbays and Joes Crabshack lol.
