Yeah, I'm gonna do it on my tank and show y'all up! Hehe... just kidding. My boss offered to pay half my registration as well as help me get a better bike. So I'm looking for a cheap used road bike. We'll see what I find, I may end up riding my tank after all! (I'd probably take the fenders/rack/lights off for the actual ride, though

Actually, I bought the bike I have off Craigslist, and sold on there as well. We have a great bike section here in Denver!

I walked into my boss' office with the registration packet, and said "I'm gonna commit suicide in July" as I handed it to him. Then he offered to pay half the registration fee! And I thought they LIKED me around here!

YEP I'm doing this ride.
Are you telling me I need to lose weight??
BM-yes you need to protect that head of yours. Its really not all that bad. I had a rode crash a year ago and if it wasn't for me helmet I would probably had a head injury. Oh just so you know I broke the helmet.

I know Loveland Pass (#2) is 6%ish, and Vail Pass (#3) in the direction we're doing it (yep, I'm signed up) is 5-6%. I have no idea about Juniper Pass...

1. The elevation/ lack of oxygen at altitude -- lowest elevation is around 7,500', highest is 11,990. That calls for some really good aerobic conditioning and/ or acclimating to those elevations.
2. It looks like the 1st 14 miles averages around 4.5% grade. But, for most people (i.e. me

Damn, now I might have to consider the bypass if the Tank is going. Is there a time limit on this ride?

I'm checking on a newer bike, we'll see what I can find that I can afford.

Can any Triple Bypass veterans comment on this ride?
I noticed that registration is pretty steep @ $115. I don't want to sound like a Scrooge and I know that a good portion of the proceeds goes to good causes, it's just that at this particular instant in time (and for a good month or so), I'll be a bit short on funds (it's what happens when you don't get paid for 5 weeks
). But I also don't want to wait too late and end up not being able to register due to the ride being sold out.
