Beartooth Hwy how difficult is it?

I would like to take the National Park Tour--Montana-Wyoming--with Cycle America. It crosses the Beartooth Hwy from Red Lodge to Yellowstone. How hard is it? The Cycle America site does not give any details. Hearing from other cyclist who have done it would be helpful.

I did that one with Cycle America about 4 or 5 years ago. This years route isn't the exact one we did I don't think, but it is similar. Bear Tooth Hwy is EPIC! Seems to me it's about 30 miles of climbing from Red Lodge up to the summit of Bear Tooth Pass. Elevation of 11,000 ft. or so. Challenging but totally doable. Just ride your pace and don't go into the red. Bring the right gearing, maybe a triple if you need it...depending on your ability. I've done 3 such trips and there have always been old men, and guys on recumbents, and couples on tandems, and big beer belly guys with hairy legs who I wouldn't of given a snowballs chance of them finishing the tour, but they seemed to make it everyday. They just rode their pace. There were also hammerheads that would make it a race and try to rip your legs off if you wanted to ride with them! Pretty much anyone can do one of those trips if you put in the proper training. Cycle America runs a great show by the way!

I haven't ridden it, but I have driven it. The Red Lodge side of the pass has some narrow and very tight turns.....hopefully you will be going up that side. The Wyoming side is a bit more open. One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Also, take some SERIOUS mosquito repellent.
