Jordan Parkway Trail

The Jordan Parkway Trail is a really scenic and pleasant ride, and a good way to go north and south in Salt Lake County. Most of the government entities along the trail realize what an asset it is, and make an effort to maintain it. Murray City is outstanding in this respect.
Salt Lake City is the exception. They have allowed those nasty little goathead vines to grow unchecked, to the point that they are onto the pavement in many places. They are mature enough to puncture tires already, and in a few weeks it would be foolish to try to ride it on a bike with pneumatic tires.
Last year they finally sprayed, late in the season, and then just left them to dry out on the trail instead of sweeping them off or picking them up. Later, they used a rotary mower to cut the weeds along the sides of the trail, and that threw the burrs all over the trail.
Does anybody have any ideas as to how to get somebody in the city interested in taking care of this problem? The mayor is supposedly a cyclist, but email to him gets shuffled off to someone else, and no action results.

Try contacting the Bonneville Cycling club. If they can't help you directly, they can tell you who can.

It's a good place to practice fixing flats.

That reminds me of riding from Bountiful to SL through Beck street. There is a bike lane on both sides of Beck street but you wouldn't know it because it's covered in dirt, gravel and trash. You end up having to take a lane and risk your life if you want to bike to work.

Update

The city finally sprayed the weeds. Now they are just lying there drying out. Two bits says they aren't picked up, but instead, spread all over by the mower in a few weeks. Two punctures from riding to International Peace Gardens from Murray.
