Looks like comedy will be in abundance. I'm jealous.

After reading a few of the typically balanced comments on
https://www.9news.com/rss/article.aspx?storyid=117899
I was half tempted to ride the route with the riders. The more the merrier right?
Motorist rights my arse.

No way.

1) It will be dangerous, why tempt fate? It only takes one irate driver to kill a whole peloton.

2) It's incredibly easy to self-support that ride, so why not do it when (1) does not apply.

I really don't get the whole poaching thing. If you don't need the services, why ride it with a gazillion other (often sketchy) cyclists? Just do it on your own a different day. Or go ahead and ride the event, but pay for it. Remember, water and portapotties count as services too, so if you use ANYTHING please pay the registration fee.

I hope it is a comedy not a tragedy. The newspapers aren't doing anyone any favors publishing that cr*p.

Each news site that has comments enabled inevitably makes P&R and A&S seem civilized in comparison.
News is far from fair and balanced these days.

You read the comments? Either you're a masochist or have monumental patience.

Wow, how sad. I did this ride last year and I remember riding past the scene of a cyclist fatality near the end of the ride. The rider wasn't part of the organized ride and was on the other side of the highway but I remember his crumpled bike sitting there on the side of the road. It turns out a friend from work was holding him as he died.
