Question about State Park fees (Colorado, Cherry Creek)
I'm trying to lose 85 pounds to join the Air Force and I'm getting my first bike since childhood this weekend. I live not far from Cherry Creek State park in Aurora CO and I can access it via trails. I'm wondering if you are required to go pay the entrance fee if you bike in via outter trails? Their website says "All vehicles are required to have an entrance pass and some parks have walk-in fees." Does vehicles include bikes? Otherwise, it says walk in passes are 3$, which would riding in fall under?
I'd appreciate enlightenment on the subject and apologize if I sound ignorant, I'm new to the subject.
Thanks!

Looks like an annual $70 "vehicle" pass would be your best bet. That way if you happen to rack the bike to your favorite park or go to another you'd be covered. $3 a pop would add up pretty quickly.
I'd call 'em up and see if there are any other specials that might apply.
Good luck on the weight loss and going USAF. I'm retired myself. Middle son will be arriving at Ft. Carson, CO, in May. He's Army.

No fee is required for entering either Cherry Creek or Chatfield by bicycle.

As someone who's going to ride out at Cherry Creek today after work, I have never paid to get into the park while on my bike. I just fly right by the front gate. It's only for cars, buses, and boats.

Also, the walk in / bicycle in entrance at Caley and Jordan road has no gate. You just bicycle or walk right in.
However, as the state parks no longer receive any government funding, things may change. The senior venicle pass (I am 72yo) went up a LOT this year.

I rode past the west gate today and did not have to pay. Nice park, absolutely covered in invasive weeds though (pet peeve of mine).

Shame they cut the funding, not the best place for fishing but it's a very nice park. Thanks for the info, I wanted to bike there and around there during spring break and it's on my commute path to campus, if had to pay 3$ everyday then it would be cheaper to pay for gas :s
Thanks!
Thanks!

Cherry Creek is the state's oldest state park. Right in the middle of Denver, it's a jewel.
I buy a state park's pass every year and the annual fee has been increasing ten buck a year the last few years.
Still a bargain as I use the Parks all over the state. Highly recommended.
