Hey Denver, honkers?

I moved to Cap Hill 2 weeks ago, so now my commute to school is via the city streets. I am no longer just riding down a suburban bicycle lane to/from the train station, where nobody honked for anything. I can't always tell if people are honking at me, or just honking at something else, since there is a fair amount of traffic on the street. I'm usually riding 13th/14th to and from Auraria campus. And I'm not poking along, but am usually a bit slower than traffic.

Your experiences in Denver proper?

I live in this area as well. 13th/14th can get busy during rush hour - it's a city street but used heavily during commute times.

While it is three lanes I've found people get a little bit agressive.

Try 11th or 12th. 12th is a bike route, 11th is equally as calm.

Only negative is these lights aren't timed as well - so it's a toss up between having a quieter ride versus zooming along faster with traffic and better timed lights...

You'll get honkers anytime you're on a busy street. For some reason, even though Denver is bicycle "friendly," motorists are only friendly as long as you aren't in their way.

I get people honking at me as I ride into work along 19th St in the CBD. Even with the sharrows.

When I lived in Cap Hillish area (6th & Downing) and commuted to Auraria, I would ride 12th Ave. Much nicer than 13th/14th Ave. A ton less traffic and the traffic that was there was less aggressive.
