Winter Park, CO area riding
Hey Folks,
I'll be in Winter Park all summer for R&R, but mostly to spend some times in the mountains training for the Leadville 100. A lot of the training will be on my road bike.
What kind of options will have I have in the Fraser Valley? It looks like US 40 & some of US 34 will work, but I suspect I'll need more options as my training rides get longer and longer. Where would be good areas to keep an eye out for for rides over the summer months?

Take hwy 40 through Granby, take a right on hwy 125 to the top of Willow Creek Pass--75 miles round trip and if you want to go further on 125 you can. Willow Creek Pass was repaved a couple of years ago so it is smooth--but the jerks did not repave the shoulder so you have to ride on the white line. Traffic can be a problem, better if you go early in the day.

On the other hand, mountain biking is huge in the area. Training is training, for the most part. Mountain biking is a bit more of a power sport than endurance while road biking is the opposite. On the plus side, mountain biking does wonders for you bike handling skills.
