CDOT Map Fail on Gore Pass

According to CDOT's map for Gore Pass, the shoulders are 4 feet or wider. Having just ridden it, it's more like 4 inches. In places it's wider, but for about 95% of it there's little to no shoulder, with 55-65 mph speeds to boot down low and up top. IIRC, the road north out of Kremmling doesn't have a shoulder either. I guess CDOT doesn't know their own roads.

........I feel for you ! There is nothing worse than 'bad info' from a quality source that puts you in harms way.......the fact that it came from CDOT is very disappointing.

Totally! I've ridden several other routes on CDOT's bicycling map and the info's been accurate. They were right about Gore Pass being Very Low traffic, even on Labor Day weekend. Problem is, most of that traffic is big trucks hauling trailers with four-wheelers or boats, or RVs -- pretty anxious on a 65 mph road with no shoulder. But other than that, fantastic ride!
