As I mentioned a while back, I was going to upgrade my Lemond Nevada City. I spent two weeks trying to find all the right parts for the upgrade, but ran into a problem finding exactly what I needed. Besides, when I added up everything the price was getting close to the cost of a new bike.

Therefore, I decided to purchase a new bike. I noticed that Lemond had a new line of steel bikes out this year called the Classics. On Thursday, I went to Bicycle Pedal'r to test ride a Croix de Fer (they were having a huge sale) and they had my size (59cm).

While test riding the Croix de Fer, I noticed another guy test riding a 2004 Lemond Zurich in my size. I really wanted to test that one just to feel the spine design frame. Thank goodness he didn't purchase it, so I gave it a try. It was great!! It dampened the bumps even more than I was used to, it was light, full Ultegra and took corners like a dream. I didn't want to get off it.

Needless to say, it didn't take long for me to make up my mind. Since it was a 2004, I got it for $1499. Added a wireless computer and two light water bottle cages and I was good to go. Rode 104 miles on Saturday and cut 10 minutes off my best time.

Those Lemond's ride really nice! Sounds like it has a pretty good motor, also. V-8?

holy cow! Zurich for $1500??! Do they have more? Perhaps a 55cm?

I tested the Buenos Aires, same frame, lower components and loved it, but it was $1600!

Congo Rats man! Take some pictures!

For Lance, it was not about the bike, but for me it was ALL about the bike. There were points on my ride where I used to pedal along between 19-20 mph. With the Zurich, I was pushing 22-23 mph in those same areas. My guess is that I was traveling that fast because the motor was fuelled by total excitment.

Two years ago I passed up a chance to get a Zurich on sale and vowed if I had the chance again, I wouldn't make that mistake again.

I purchased mine at the Bicycle Pedal'r on County Line Rd. They dropped the price because of the "SuperSale" they had from March 30 through April 2. Once I saw my bike, all other bikes were non-existent, so I don't know if they had another Zurich or not. Sorry, but give them a call. The other nice thing is that I get free lifetime tune-ups.

A photo will be coming soon (got to dust off the digital camera).

Were you guys at the Confluence overlook about 1:45 p.m.? I was riding past there at that time and saw a group of riders saying their good-byes. If that were you guys, I'm going to kick myself for not stopping . On my way up to Confluence Park I'm pretty sure I passed the guy with the yellow and blue jersey (I think it's a Breckenridge jersey) just south of Invesco field.

Inadvertently got more riding in today that I thought I would! It was great to be on the bike after getting virtually no riding in over the last 2 months thanks to travel with work...

Started riding down to the office (12 miles away), and about 5 miles in realized I'd forgotten to bring all my travel receipts, which were my only pupose for going down to work today! Turned around and went back to collect them, then back down to work. Gave me a total of about 35 miles today. The ride south was into a huge headwind, which of course gave me a great push on the way home.

Looking forward to getting some more miles in, but probably not tomorrow thanks to the weather!

You're lucky to have had the wind at your back for the return trip. I did 65 miles on Saturday, but I wasn't smart enough to head south first. Instead, I rode from Superior due north to Lyons some 30 plus miles. I had done 20 hard miles Friday eve so I kept telling myself to go easy but I still made it to Lyons in 1 1/2 hours. When I turned south in Hygene it was into that stiff headwind, which was my companion for the next 2 1/2 hours. I felt ok for the first 20 miles but the last fifteen was pretty tough and I was totally toast by the time I made it home (just before dark). Oh well, if it doesn't kill me it'll only make me stronger.

It is very nasty down here in the springs. Yuck!

Wind and snow! It's suppose to warm up and turn to wind and rain, but I haven't seen it yet.

Really windy up here in Loveland (town, not ski area) But it is clear. It looks like the rain and snow is south and east of us.

No snow in Littleton - just breezy, chilly and drizzly... And I'm okay with that - means I can get out and ride tomorrow!

Saturday: 40 miles to Lyons "Fruit Loops" from High Gear Cyclery in Longmont.

Sunday: Quick 6 miles to church.

Monday: A quick 20 miles in one hour during lunch on rolling hills on Boulder County roads. Feel the burn.

Tuesday: Dry here north of Denver, but too windy to be much fun.

Tomorrow: Supposed to be warmer and calm. Looking forward to a good lunch ride.

This Saturday I'll be at the LAB Road 1 class at REI in Denver all day. From my home to Denver-REI is 48 miles by bike.

Here's the photo of my new Zurich that I purchased last Thursday evening. I've ridden it 207 miles so far and it has passed all my expectations. I use the Jandd seat pack which stores much of what I need for my century rides.

Neat!

I have two of the exact same Jandd seat packs, but one is wearing out - the zipper is gone.

See it in this picture of my Lemond

Great morning commute here in Loveland. The 60 mph winds are gone so the ride was really pleasant.
Even got a "Nice Pants!" from a passing car.

I've had mine for about a year and have been lucky that I've had no problems with the zippers so far. I remember a thread a while back where both you and I talked about that Jandd seat pack.

Edit: I found the thread-https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ighlight=jandd

Your memory is a lot better than mine! Thanks. My pack was about 6 years old when it gave out.
