Great ride leading our senior group up Waterton Canyone today. It is so pretty this year, with lots of water in the river.

My riding friend and I are planning on going from Carson Center north to 104th and back tomorrow.

I'm still around too, although we're heading back east on Wed. Will be gone for 6 weeks. We're riding Brat (Bicycle Ride Across Tennessee) and Cycle North Carolina before we head back.

I got a new bike, it's a Serotta Ottrott, pink and dark grey, you can't miss me.

We also bought a condo in Silverthorne. I can't wait for the ski season. I hope to make it the whole season without incident this year.

Hey you. I live in Lakewood so we are not far from eachother now.

I haven't seen much of the road bike this year for a met a guy lastyear whom mountain bikes. But as the weather turns cooler I will be doing some riding on the road.

Congrats on the engagement!!!

Give me a ring if you ever want to hook up for a ride.

Hey Snowy! Thanks for the congrats - I'm looking forward to the wedding.

My road bike is currently down for the count (don't ask - but it needs a new fork!) so I've been riding my mtb - both on road and trail. I'd love to get together and ride again sometime - we'll have to check schedules (October looks better for me right now, LOL). BTW, do you ever hear from Steve anymore?

Take care...

MMPC,

OK, my friend (he is 73 and out-rides me - I am only 66 going on 67) and I did 42.5 miles on the Platte River Trail today on our road bikes. My longest ride since my back injury.

The last 15 miles, I kept hearing this strange whooshing sound from the wheel. It was impossible to tell if it was front or back, and upon stopping, the noise could not be replicated.

Finally, upon close inspection, we saw that the tread had separated from the rubber in one spot, and the rubber had come off.

No bulge, the fabric still seemed intact, so we slowly (about 12 mph) rode back to the car. During each mile the sound got louder. But we made it without a blow-out.

These are Armadillo Specialized with MANY miles, and I know I should have replaced tham at the beginning of the summer, but have been riding on hope and a promise!

So, the moral is, REPLACE THOSE TIRES when you think they need it. Don't push your luck, or you may run out of luck.

Labor day was AWESOME here in Denver... I rode from my house (As far West in Lakewood as you can go without actually being in Golden) to Cherry Creek State Park. 62.5 miles round trip. The weather was great and I literally saw HUNDREDS of bicyclists out and about, in addition to tons of walkers and joggers.

It was pretty cool. We should have joined up.

I rode from my house 120th and colorado to CU in Boulder. 60 miles RT.
My god the foothills are hilly (duh!). Took a few SH and SRs to get there. Overall, a very good experience for the first time cycling on these roads.

I think it was SH128 to SR93 to broadway in boulder.

Very pretty as well.
My legs still hurt from all the hill climbing. I need to do this a few more times for the training benefits.

Got a wonderful 34 mile ride today along the Parker Trail System. Could have gone another 10-15 miles if I had headed down to Franktown. I did the Cherry Creek Trail from Cottonwood to the Pinery and also went up the Sulphur Gulch Trail.

Hey Y'all. I am finally living here. I have temporary housing in Aurora for a month or two.
I look forward to riding with some BF'rs when this weather breaks.

Hey, Zin. I was wondering what happened to you. YOu and Naisme really got me started into winter cycling several years ago. What brought you to Denver?

BTW, i used to me RANGER, if that jogs your memory. (N0LWA)

Hey Ranger! Dude!
Glad you are still alive a kick'n! My move to Denver is a bit of a complicated story. Lets just say I'm here now and looking for work. There are many job openings in my field here. So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that something comes along soon.

So, why the name change?

Hope everything works out for ya Bob. Hell, it otta feel hot there compared to where you were before. I changed my avatar mainly out of boredom. Portis is the town i grew up in, and it needed some representin' since there are only about 100 people left there, and most of them have one foot in the grave.

Hey Portis. I understand the change thing. Thanks. I hope things work out here too. Its a big jump.

Back on topic, we had a nice social ride from Littleton to REI in Denver and back on the Platte River Tail yesterday. 30+ miles if I recall correctly.

What a beautiful day today in the Denver area. I went up to Broomfield and did 20 miles with my best friend.

Sounds like Saturday I'll be riding with friends headed out west from Loveland. Sunday is a Century.

Hmmm, good stuff!

Heading out on the Cherry Creek Trail at noon today. Anyone interested, meet at the trail head on Quincy & Parker road. (I think that is where its at).

I drive a little white suv with Montana plates.

Zin, one of these beautiful days plan on heading over to my house in Parker. I will give you a "social" tour of about 30 in-out miles of beautiful bike paths starting from the trail in the back of my house.

Wow! What a great day in Denver! We did 83 miles. Littleton to REI downtown, then up through Commerce City. Then out to Golden to climb Lookout Mountain then back to REI/Starbucks for a treat. Then back to Littleton.

Pics of the ride are here:

We had great weather - hi 50's and low 60's, and did a 20 miler. Zin had a job interview and we needed to allow for time for that. Zin was kind enough to go slow and not show me up too bad, but that Trek 5200 was a'rairing to go, and a bit disappointed, I think !

Here we are at the start. Zin took more pics as we went. Zin is the skinny one, poor guy - doesn't seem to get anough to eat!

Hey Dnvr! Thanks for the nice ride. Sorry I had to cut things short. We'll have to get together on another day.

OMG! Why were there not more riders out this morning? It was wonderful. By the end I had stripped down to my shorts and jersey. Maybe it had something to do with my nutty brain waking me up at 3am.

Stripping clothes off is one of the last stages of hypothermia (before becoming an ice cube). Are you sure you weren't colder than you thought?
