New Bike Ban Bill in Missouri- Action Alert
There's a new bill in Missouri to ban bikes from any state road within two miles of a state bike path. MoBikeFed is asking for residents to contact their legislators. Go to the MoBikeFed website directly, or

Wow! Under such a law how one ride a bike to the bike path to use it? It would effectively ban bicycling except for recreational. If that were a law here, it would mean I couldn't commute by bike since both my home and office are within two miles of a major bike path, but the bike path doesn't go there. To use the bike path at all, I'd have to put the bike in the car and drive a mile or so to somewhere I could park next to the path instead of just riding a half mile from home. Best wishes that you nip such nonsense in the bud.

Sent my representative, an email this past Sunday about this crazy idea, not even a canned response. The draft of the bill is from state rep Bart Korman, dist. 99 just west of St. Charles county. Sure would hate to see his office flooded with phone calls and emails.
But anyway for those of you in Missouri find out, if you don't know, who your representative in the house is, and send them an email, give them a call, better yet go to their office, and let them know what you think of this idea.
I've talked to several cyclists out on the Katy going cross country that went out of their way to ride the Katy Trail, this crazy bill could make that harder to do. I'm hoping this bill never gets past the draft stage, but you never know with these nutties these days.
