LIRR to Wantagh. Take Beach Street south from the east end of the train station, Beech goes south to Merrick Rd., across the street is Cedar Creek Park, the northern terminus of the Jones Beach path is inside this park about 1/2 mile down on the west side. Ride that path 5.5 miles south to the #5 Jones Beach parking lot, go thru that, the Ocean Parkway path starts on the SE side. It's then a straight shot 14 miles one way to Captree State Park. 20 miles one way from Wantagh. here's a RWGPS link

FYI... there's no shade from the sun or the wind, so be prepared to reapply sunscreen. Also have 2 water bottles and refill often.

This is my go-to ride. Rode it again today, 53 degrees. Think of the wind as your uphill and you’ll never complain about it. It’s as flat as they get.
