Coring City Preserve Albany NY

Are there any free parking lots near the Corning City Preserve. Planning on riding the Mohawk Hudson Trail as soon as it warms up some. Rode the last section of this when we were finishing the NY Parks & Trails Erie Canal ride and had to hustle to the end to meet our rides home. Any good maps available? All help appreciated. Thanks.

Hoffman Park might work. Satellite image shows parking. Not too far from the Corning City Preserve. I just drove through Hoffman Park today and it looks pretty quiet.

I'm not sure if you got my response but, I found an entrance to The Dunne Bridge on Broadway in Rennselaer. There is a lot and a sign for the NY Rt 5 & 9. Path seems to go on th bridge and right towards Corning Preserve. As I will be coming from Springfield Ma. this would be a good starting point. Its not far from the lot we had long term parking when we did the Erie Canal ride.. Thanks for the assist. If you couldpoint me to any good maps that would be appreciated. I found some cue sheets.

I don't see a PM if you tried to send one. I did the Erie Canal ride in 2012 & parked over by the Amtrak. We rode from the endpoint of the ride back over the bridge to our car, so definitely that can work. I don't know any good maps but if I find anything I will post again.

Well, this looks like a good starting point: http://albanybicyclecoalition.com/resources/maps/

Hoffman Park is not near the Corning Preserve. Its about 3 miles away with a nasty hill and bad neighborhoods between it.

There is a parking lot in the Preserve as well as just north of the preserve, near the boat launch. Probably not free during the week.

I found my way to the Amtrack Parking lot ($7.00 a day lower level) and down onto the Dunne Memorial Bridge onto the Mohawk Hudson Bike Trail. Its in need of repair in soe spots but ovr all in good condition. Once your off the paved trail, its easy to follow the signs that will put you back off road. One issue I found is that some street crossings, the stree signs were missing. So watch your maps or gps closely. I almost crossed the road that will take you closest to Cohos Falls.
You're in and out of quiet neighborhoods and when you get near Schnectady a few hills to deal with as you get towardsthr GE properities. Watch closely as you get neat the end of trail near SCCC as trail was not too well marked. Turn right just before the SCCC parking lot to get back on trail My last stop for the day was LOCK 8. Lunch & pictures. Over nighted at the Super 8 Motel on RT 146. 4 1/2 miles or so from downtown. Next morning back on trail and back to car.

Thanks to all who provided assistance. If you were out 4/28 & 29, I was he biker with the yellow fenders
