Nashua River Rail Trail (MA/NH) Conditions 4/12/15 FYI

Out for the first ride of the season on Sunday 4/12/15 with my wife who wanted to try the NRRT.

The trail is not quite ready for riding end to end. About 1.5 miles north of Groton center there were two blowdowns blocking the trail and just after the Nod Rd. crossing there was unmelted snow and ice still covering the trail. Since we turned back at that point, I don't know how the Pepperell to Nashua section is.

Now that temps are hitting the 60s perhaps the melting will be complete in the next week. A good amount of debris, mostly twigs and some piles of leaves. The pavement itself didn't show much new damage from the cold.

The two toilets in the Ayer parking lot were boarded up (!!) but there were two portajohns set up next to them.

The two trees have been cleared from the trial, and their are groups forming for this Saturday to clean sections of the trial.
