Anyone have an extra bike stand I could rent for a few months?

Hi Folks,

Long-time Boston-area lurker here. I realize this is probably a long shot, but I'll take a stab anyway...

I recently acquired an early 80's Lotus Odyssey in pretty darn good shape. (Original thread here: http://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...out-there.html). However, based on the suggestions of several bike-forum-ites, I understand I should completely overhaul this baby and repack all the bearings before hitting the road with it. I'd really like to do the work myself, and use the opportunity to learn some fundamental bike maintenance and repair skills. As suggested, I've considered doing the necessary work at a co-op (ie: CommonWheels in Allston), but the reality is I'm just not going to have the time haul my bike down there during my days off. We've got a little one at home, and my off-days are anything but. So my plan is to wrench on this bike incrementally at work, during early mornings and lunch-breaks. (I've got a nice work set-up, and plenty of space for this kind of thing). With this in mind, I started looking at bike repair stands, and holy moses they aren't cheap. I'm not finding much on CL, so I figured I'd try here...is there anyone who happens to have an extra bike repair stand lying around that I could rent for a few months? Who knows, it may even be accompanied by a couple 6 packs of IPA upon it's return? I live in Somerville, and work out in Bedford, and am obviously happy to pick up if anything is available.

Thanks for considerin'

You can do a lot of work on your bike without a bike stand. It might make some adjustments easier, but it certainly isn't necessary.

Yep... I'm still one to do half of my tuning upside-down.

Okay, I'll go that route then. Thanks for the reply.
