Tour de Bronx Sunday, Oct. 23rd

Once again this unique cycling event is almost here. Free, fun and bikes and cyclists of every sort. I will be there as always with an entourage. Is anyone else planning on attending?

You got me thinking. I gotta check with my social secretary (wife) and see if my son is free.

I usually volunteer as a marshal; can't make it this year - same day as NYC Bike MS. I had to decide which event to volunteer for.
Since Tour de Bronx is free, and riders have to pay for registration and raise funds for Bike MS; I figure they deserve more assistance.
Flats, minor mechanical problems, etc.

Both rides are a lot of fun; will try to make it next year. Free helmets in the beginning; free snacks in the middle(rest stops), free
pizza & t-shirt at the end.

Hmmm, I'll have to see about this one. I stopped doing the TdB a few years ago when I had a really bad time. There were way too many places where you had to stop and wait, and at some point somebody stopped right in front of me for no apparent reason and I ended up hitting pavement. Luckily I wasn't going more than 5mph. I decided to ditch the 40 mile ride to find the 25 mile route just because I had enough of the craziness, but I found myself way ahead of them and was the first one into the Botanical Gardens. I WON!!!!! (JK, last time I wrote that somebody had to point out it wasn't a race, the guy needs to have his facetiousness meter checked.)

Anyway, maybe this year I'll do it. At my current fitness level it would be all I could do.

I want to do this, but it's not likely. As I have to work Sunday Morning at 7:45.

Here's a NY1 story about it.

Tour de Bronx Takes Thousands of Riders through the Borough's Unseen Nooks and Crannies

I've never taken the tour myself, though I've done my own tours in the Bronx, covering much of the same territory. Maybe I'll try it next year.
