Bronx River Pathway to connect missing link in Scarsdale
This article says they are going to connect up the 1.5 mile stretch between Scarsdale and Hartsdale! Would be nice if they did. Whatever happen to the project to connect the South and North county trailways? Astorino proposes $2.3M to complete 36-mile trailway |
used to cut school in 6th grade & walk it to the zoo. eventually decided to use my blue stingray. pretty fun, just had to watch out for the truant officers. never really saw any tho

Last year, the county announced a similar project to connect the North and South County trailways in Elmsford. That estimated $2.75 million project, part of a different path, is expected to eliminate a dangerous stretch of the route which, like Scarsdale, has cyclists and hikers traverse a stretch of roads with heavy traffic. The 0.6-mile span of that path is projected to be completed in fall 2017. |
If I recall, a number of private companies using the right-of-way, including one large building built right where the path should go.
I suspect they are locating a new path along the Saw Mill River just to the west. Thus expensive |
I'm curious exactly where they'll run this section. I've scouted the options on and off for years, and there's very little room to work with.
In the meantime, they could spend very little to immediately clean up, and maybe pave the small segment from where the path now ends at the newly built ramps to the street, up to the bridge that's been there, and leads to Pipeline Road. That's rideable now, and Pipeline has minimal traffic, so it's an excellent option up to Hartsdale. But, there are rough sections, that need walking, and more importantly appear to be the end so most people have no idea that it leads out to Pipeline. Also, not mentioned in the article, stretches of the path between Hartsdale and White Plains aren't paved yet. |
