What is it like riding around Chatham, MA?

We are about to head up to Chatham for the Farm to Fork open ride (pay to do it but do it on your own schedule) but that will only take one day and I was wondering about what is it like to ride in that corner of Cape Cod and what other family friendly, for a family that bikes 10-15 miles all together, rides there are. And getting out of town a little is just fine.

We are on 2 road modified late 90's/early 00's non suspension mountain bikes plus an Adams trail-a-bike.

I'm going to link to an overview from TrailForks: https://www.trailforks.com/trails/ma...&lon=-70.04944

You've got the Old Colony RT which connects to the infamous CCRT. Not on TrailForks, but the Nauset Trail is a street ride away off the CCRT and brings you right to Cost Guard Beach - one of my most favorite 'detours' from CCRT. Nickerson Park isn't too far.
Further north there's Old Kings Highway/Head Of The Meadow and, of course, the fanstastic, out-of-this world scenery of the Provincelands trails.
If you get to the end of CCRT, biking on Ocean View Drive feels like you are on the West Coast - not much traffic here and a quick out-and-back though not flat (unfortunately, doesn't look like there's a way to make it a loop as there's no shoulder or sidewalk on 6 at that point)
My personal opinion is that for street riding the Cape is fantastic during the quiet hours, but otherwise there aren't that many roads so they can get busy near populated centers, especially if you're on a double-numbered road.

There are bigger Cape experts around here too, like rumrunn6 and Ghazmh Also see https://www.bikeforums.net/northeast...rime-time.html

P.S. Sir Cricket's in Orleans is a favorite place for fried seafood.

watch out for the lobsters, lots of pinch flats LOL

Yep, Autonomy hit the nail on the head. The Old Colony trail will bring you right to the CCRT at a quaint looking bike trail rotary. From there you can go East or West. Enjoy the scenery whichever way you choose.

One more thread on Cape biking I ran across, with pictures/videos: https://www.bikeforums.net/northeast...ll-biking.html
There's probably more in the forum if you do a search.

Good times in that thread. It’s not the same here without Rummies ride reports anymore.

there's a branch of the CCRT that goes to & from Chatham. if you can find it, it's a lovely trail for families
