*Groans.* Are you going to join us Sunday? Last thing I need is someone else to make me feel like roadkill.

(Just kidding - do join in if you're free, I think we're talking about an AM ride.)

I'll be doing the century on Sunday and I'm definitely not going to go all that fast if you want to hang out with me in the bottom third of the pack.

At first I thought you called me a carpet bagger, I was like, what the hell?

Honestly, you people have lifted my commuter, it's no litespeed I can tell you that much. When I mean beater, I mean beater, as in, I've taken a bat to it (or guard rail).

I've also though a good night ride would be fun. Especially after october 31st when DST hits and the sunsets at 5pm. Grab everyone on friday night, like 6:30 pm, jam on up to the palisades with like 200 watts of light.

i'm doing the centruy on sunday. not sure how bf people can link up, but, i'll have on a blue jersey, old clunky-looking white bell helmet, solid-blue (no decals) zullo bike, mismatched water bottle cages and dirty as hell yellow bar tape. hoping to avg around 17-18 mph, although i just found out the roads aren't closed, so not sure how that will work out. maybe you guys can wave as you pass me. to those who have ridden this ride in the past, how many people turn up for the 100 mile route?

Allow me to translate this sandbagging:

i'm doing the centruy on sunday. not sure how bf people can link up, but, i'll have on a blue jersey
I'll be wearing my team discovery kit, which i actually earned.

old clunky-looking white bell helmet
Giro Atmos TT ultralight prototype.

solid-blue (no decals) zullo bike
Matching blue madone 7.0 prototype

mismatched water bottle cages
Aero carbon cages.

dirty as hell yellow bar tape.
Carbon fiber gel bar tape.

hoping to avg around 17-18 mph
Up a 15 mile 10% incline.

although i just found out the roads aren't closed, so not sure how that will work out. maybe you guys can wave as you pass me.
Wave good bye to me when I drop you like a hot stone.

to those who have ridden this ride in the past, how many people turn up for the 100 mile route?
So I know how many people I can look forward to dropping.

See, that's what's frightening me.

Hy everybody,

i haven't checked the forum for a while. Is anybody in for a ride either in CP or up to Nyack or whatever on 9/17 0r 9/18. As usual i'll try to keep an average in the range of around 18 mph. It's also supposed to be a preparation for the twin lights ride the weekend after.

I'll hook up with you guys once I start averaging 17-18mph. Nothing's worse than getting dropped in the first 15 minutes of a 'group ride'.

What do you average on the CP loop?

My GPS tells me I do a little under 19. But I am pretty sure that it is lying to make me feel better. Although I am booked solid this week I'd love to get lots of people to ride with after work starting soon.

Riding with cjc_cyling and slvoid was awesome but I am pretty sure slvoid can drop me in about 15 seconds.

I'm up to averaging 18 mph on the CP loops, so wheezl, I think your GPS is in good working order.

I am usually averaging 17 to 20 depending on my mood. I am used to groop rides so i will certainly adapt to every speed.

i'd be up for a ride on saturday or sunday. either day works for me. i'm healing from an injury so my fitness isn't so great right now (and i'm not sandbagging..hehe). over the summer i was right about 20mph on a few loops of the park, but due to the fact that i'm weaker now and haven't been on the bike too much in 4 weeks, i'd probably be around 16-17ish.

I was having trouble keeping up with you that day when you started laying it down. I'm pretty sure you'll be flying once you get rid of that loose clothing.

Whatever you want to do is cool.

I live in Montclair and ride up to that Eagle Rock lookout all the time. Are you talking about the Prospect Ave Hill? or the S turns on the face of the mountain?

+1

The dude is damn fast. He can just explode and is able to keep going for a pretty long time. I'm very impressed.

I used to ride my mountain bike (My Modded MTB ) for rides up to 30miles and average 18-19 mph.
I cant wait to get a road bike so I can start getting the good speeds!.

I loved riding in Ohio, but NJ/NY scares me... drivers are ******** here.

Hehe, you'd think drivers are safer here cause of the high insurance rates, but they're not...

I'm up for this.....as long as we have a good bunch of folks going and as long as there's a no-drop policy.

I'd love to go, but I'm not nearly in shape enough. 30 miles is a bit out of my range yet, and I don't go that fast. More of a rec rider, so if anyone's into that drop me a PM. Mostly ride up and down the West Side Greenway and CP on my 1972 French contraption, always a hair's breadth away from falling apart. Just moved here and getting used to NY.
