Vermont BF(dot)net Foliage Tour

Anyone interested?
Saturday, October 7th or Sunday, October 8th.

Mad River Valley?
40-60-80-100 miles?
Gaps? No Gaps?
Touring mentality - out for a nice ride with a group and stopping for photos, lunch, roadside fun?
Hammerfest?

I rode down 100 and over Middlebury Gap Sunday, AM. Was beautiful, even with the pouring, cold, miserable, rain.

Looks like next weekend will show some color:

Hey Mike.....
I guess its OK to respond here, publicly ??
I got your email late last nite. In retrospect, Im sort of glad
or paths diverged on sunday. I was woefully underdressed and the Pug I
was working on all Saturday for the ride I still have not actually ridden yet.
This mixture of stupidity on my part probably would have lead to inconvenience for
everyone! When I read your email and subsequent posting there is no way I should
have been out in wet weather dressed as I was. Im up for a laid back
50 or so on saturday . I believe other VT'ers know more about good
areas than I do so if something is to happen on Saturday Ill just show
up where the concensus says to !
The weekend after this upcoming one is a PA trip for me so that is out........

Yeah, sorry about screwing up the timing. I had a rough weekend.
Saturday sounds great.

How much climbing you up for? I'll start looking at options for routes.

The weekend you picked out is the same weekend/date as the Great River Ride in Westfield, MA.
Why don't you join us and then do your ride on a different weekend ??
My Two Cents

Great River Ride... I'll check on it - but it does require more travel than me heading to Waitsfield or Warren from Burlington.
Ohhh... and there is a RUSA populaire... hmm.

Lets watch the weather. I'm up for Saturday, if that works well for you.
Weekend turned household projects into chores... and the bike was waiting for some TLC before the ride - and I botched the rewiring of my dyno hub and lights - so I had to tear it all apart and start again.

The ride in the rain through Middlebury Gap was fun, until the descent and the potential for hypothermia. Called the wife to be and started riding up 7 north, she met me 10 miles north of Middlebury. I was working hard - mainly to stay warm. If I rode a moderate pace I got chilled and my teeth started chattering!

Learned alot about water and cold... which is stuff I've always known - so I got my fall refresher on dressing warmer!

At least my saddle sores have healed up nicely since not riding.

Wow.
Sorry to hear.

I've been battling some sort of anemia. This summer was challenging with the fatigue, uncertainty, tests, etc (I think they drew enough blood to cause the anemia!)

Been feeling better lately. Having acupuncture once a week has really been helping.

Good luck~!

I think I have Shingles....juuuuust starting to get small red blotches all over my body now; like, within the last 2 hours. It's been about a week now, and from what I've read it sometimes takes that long from the onset of itching for the rash to occur. Guess that would explain the extreme amount of itching I've been dealing with (preventing me from sleeping), shallow breathing, and the odd muscle pain I get...since it attacks nerves. Still trying to figure out my throat problem though....sorta feels like my airway gets a bit constricted, and there's a big lump on the side....but doesn't really feel like a gland. Starting to get painful now.

Actually....just got back from the Dr. a little while ago...

My initial bloodwork results have come in, and it's Hepatitis. Not sure which strain yet as he is still waiting to get the rest of the results, and will be requesting more testing. Going for an abdominal ultrasound tomorrow at the hospital.

Now I kinda WISH it was shingles .
