Thanks G.

Damn! I was up for it. Oh well.

pgoat 04-03-09 10:37 AM

I'm already looking forward to May - there's supposed to be a TA group getting together in Queens to come in for it.

noteon 04-03-09 04:21 PM

Definitely still off?

Air 04-03-09 05:20 PM

Yeah - but I'm sure if a few people want to just meet there at 10 there'll be others too, play in the park.

jyossarian 04-27-09 10:37 AM

Only 50% chance of t-storms this Friday for the moonlight ride in CP. That's the same odds of rain everyday. Either it will or it won't! See yooz there.

I got a little confused. This is the 25 mile ride that ends around 179th & Amsterdam?

jyossarian 05-15-09 11:35 AM

Also, not a Times Up! ride, but a City Reliquary ride. Dead Horse Bay Bike Ride - Saturday 5/16

Saturday May 16th 1:30 - 5pm
Meet at 1:30pm, leave 2pm, return 6pm.
Join the most civic cyclists in town for a fun, free, leisurely and historical bicycle ride from North to South Brooklyn and back. Travel along America's first urban bicycle lane, traverse various "deep Brooklyn 'hoods" and end at Dead Horse Bay, aka Bottle Beach. After a rest, we'll return the way we came. End at the City Reliquary for the official opening of the Candela Structures: A New York City History Mystery! Total miles: 21.

Whoa - that sounds awesome! Can't make it, buddy is organizing a slow ride if anyone's interested from Central Park, down around lower Manhattan and back up.

pgoat 05-15-09 08:57 PM

that does sound cool.....not sure what the heck we're doing yet, might not get to ride much at all this weekend.:(

Air 05-16-09 04:21 PM

That was a freakin' sweet ride!

KitN 05-16-09 06:02 PM

I went on the Folding Bike tour/ride. It was a lot of fun. Met some cool folks and had a blast. There was about 50-60 folding bikes. Tons of Bromptons. A few Swifts. A ton of Dahons. Three Stridas. Another Citizen. A few Downtubes... Folding bikes of all shapes and sizes. It was so nice seeing all those folding bikes. :D

That was a nice ride. A bit over 50 miles door-door, but pretty a pretty cool place that I'd never heard of.

cool - did you get any pics?

just in case you didn't see this thread, lots of folders here

Wish I could have done all these, but I'm already stretching my family's goodwill with all the brevet training, hotel overnights, missed weekends, etc. Can't wait until August when I can get back into these things (especially the folding bike rides).

KitN 05-17-09 02:50 PM

Unfortunately I forgot my camera but I did you my cellphone camera to snap a few pics. I'll try to upload them later but know that the quality will be poor.

Air 05-20-09 07:21 AM

Jyossarian - I've been wanting to ride there for a while, jealous!

It's literally across the street from Floyd Bennett Field, right by the toll booths for the Marine Pkwy Bridge. It's not marked at all, you just walk into the wilderness, follow the path and wind up at Bottle Beach.

Air 05-20-09 08:45 AM

Yeah, just never got a chance. Wanted to go with someone who's a real photographer; the story behind that place is pretty cool.
