The snow held off for the whole ride. No coyotes or raccoons sighted. Good seeing you Air and Noteon!

The weather is gonna suck a big bag of dongs these next two days which gives you plenty of time to make plans to be at the Central Park Moonlight Ride this Friday!

Good seeing you noteon and stevesurf! Tonight's ride was interesting in that I got asked to sweep and ended up missing most of the ride due to a suicidal rear derailleur on a rider's bike. After converting his bike to a single speed, we couldn't find the ride so noteon took off for home and I met up w/ the ride at start/end point. Still a fun ride and a great night to ride.

2 days to go and the weather DOES look to be dry... don't think the bike light I ordered will make it in time, but what the frak, I wanna go anyway. Not real experienced with coldish temps, looks like it may be 58-62, so is a (good quality, heavy) sweat shirt sufficient? This time I will stay at least 12 feet away from any body of water! Sure hope pgoat is there, the last time we "met" I was not at my best<g>!

I wish I could be there (not missing any Central Park Moonlight Rides was my New Year's resolution), but I have to be at the starting line of a brevet at 4am Saturday in New Jersey.

I'm forgiving myself.

Have a good one!

Hope to meet you, Air and pgoat...

I did get the impression you guys tended to trail the pack... so I'll keep an eye out. Grayish beard, probably heavy duty, dark blue Columbia sweat shirt... it'll be weird NOT bucking the headwinds I seem to get every time I iot the Greenway.

100+ people! Music & Art on bikes! And theft of the music, the eventual recovery of the music, and a standoff between some young hoods and people on bikes! Tonight was more eventful than usual. Good seeing yooz out there!

Good thing I have 2 quarters, had to call my super to get out the industrial shop vac to vacuum me up from the puddle I collapsed into as soon as I arrived at my building<g>! Somehow I remembered Harlem Hill as steeper and shorter... it was kinda painful, but glad I made it.

Forgot to tell you that the very first network Postrscript printer I installed at the publisher I worked for in te early ninties I named Yossarian.

Big thanks to jyossarian and Air for letting me kinda hang at the back, MUCH better position to actually see stuff NOT getting caught in the peleton.

Next up is the Riverside ride, hope the route goes north up the Greenway, I'm very familiar with that territory as I ride it a lot.

Hey, anyone know exactly what route the "Riverside Run" takes? It's says it both in CP and on the Greenway... which kinda has to mean north through the park, out at 100th over to the Greenway (one CAN ride continuously from the 102nd RSP entrance all the way to the Greenway, stopping for all the avenues of course), the south to around 59th, then more streets to back to Columbus Circle?? Seems to entail an awful lot of street riding, especially if we have a large group.

No AIR as well, somehow I ended up with the walkee-talkee, sweeping. Right off the bat, someone who appeared to have NEVER ridden was all over the place... guy stepped up and said he'd help them out so I could have a chance to stay with the group. 'Nother guy (Eddie I think, could switch his bike from single speed to fixed, good guy) also stepped up... help was greatly appreciated. With responsibity, one DOES have to use judgement or might never be even vaguely close to group, not to mention route familiarity not that great, AND noticed leaders can be creative and change route on the fly!

Next time!

Oh my, so that was you... next time, let's do formal introduction!

I too do a lot of Greenway riding, being ~200' from Riverside Park. Just listen for huffing and puffing along route.
