(I've been MIA from bikeforums for a while -- family and work...)
I will be on my blue GT road bike wearing a simple, white cotton cycling t-shirt and yellow helmet.
I'm in the shape of my life (which says more about what a sloth I used to be than anything else.) Say kind things as you scream past me. (outside of BF, I answer to Ted.)
My plan is 100 this Montauk, 145 on Glen's.

Avatar, if you've got a light jacket you can always fold it up & stuff it in a jersey pocket.

And FYI, my wheels are welded on, because so many people want to steal them.

1/10" of rain, 30% chance.
I'm not taking any rain gear. A fleece pullover, yes. Likely that will be strapped to my rack trunk after starting out. Weather reports have a light North West wind at around ~10 knots. A little help and not a hindrance. 70oF high. I couldn't ask for better riding weather.
Be sure to take your Sunscreen lotion. I have a bag of Jolly Ranchers in case it does get warm!
Looks like it will start a little chilly, 45oF at the least, so I'm leaving my t-shirt for after the shower change at the end.
Have a great ride folks. See you in Babylon!

You will, in fact, I think you're already dumb enough now... since you got a CARBON bike!

Montauk on a 48-17 is gunna suck, you're going to get smoked by everyone, some 85 year old guy rding a 3 speed Schwinn, some chick riding a beach cruiser and even me, and I don't even have to be on a bike. I can run and still dust you with that baby gearing. Throw on at least a 16 or better yet a 15 if you wanna make it to Montauk by nightfall.
Secondly, people don't steal bikes here in N.Y. That's just a rumor some messenger made up to slow down other messengers who have to waste their time locking and unlocking their bike, leaving the other to get all the runs for the day.
And most of all, no one is going to steal carbon wheels, thats the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Those things are a death trap. That's equivalent to stealing a ticking time bomb!

What is the average time to finish? 5 or 6 hours?
I give up. I have 30 ratios on my fred bike. I only use 8... Enjoy your 145 miles of youth and one ratio! More power to you core folk.
I'm gonna enjoy the process. It aint a race for me.
