Hey, I'd love to be on the list. I'm located in Sunnyside, Queens (east of Long Island City, slightly south of Astoria). I'm a beginner looking to do some rides around 25 miles for starters.

stole your bike
Can't believe I've just found this. Add me too, native NYer now living right across the river in North Bergen. I'm usually on 9W in the early morning or commuting into the city for work.

Manhattan, 104 & RSD. CO loop on weekends, Greenway during the week. Too old, too heavy but I'm trying to get back into bike shape, had been away from it for about a decade.
BTW, from the tennis courts at 96th to the Little Red Lighthouse on the Greenway is a GREAT test for suspension systems!

I guess you have to count me in, too!
I don't live in NYC, but I work here, and commute from Penn Station, up 8th Ave and through the park to 69th on my folding bike every morning between 7 and 7:30. Afternoons, either back to Penn Station or over Queensboro Bridge to Hunterspoint Ave Station.

I just joined BF. Brooklyn-Long Beach is one of my favorite rides, Prospect park is nice, so is the LIE service road. I used to endure going through the Manhattan to ride upstate with NYCC about 15 years ago, but now I find Long Island easier. If you see someone on a pink Basso with 12' surf fishing rods tied to the top tube, it's gotta be me. I've been thinking of starting a "fishing by bike" thread. 2 wheels give a fisherman access to places the auto-bound crowd can only dream of. Maybe later.

Just moved to NYC from Hartford - 135th and Riverside. I've been taking trips up to Fort Tryon park and Central Park, but I don't know much else besides that. I think I've used more brake pad in the past couple weeks than a whole year road riding in Connecticut - lots of stop and wait for the traffic to clear!!

And this is why one never goes near Central Park, Prospect Park, West-side bikepath or any other public area on a bike during daylight hours on a weekend.
Unless of course you like going 9mph and swerving around human clutter.

90% of the issue in CP is from CP South to just past the Met. Horse carriages and especially the pedicabs are issues. For that stretch I try and stay very attentive, one can get into a pretty fast rhythm outside that zone.

Washington Heights, 190th & Ft Washington. I commute to West 33rd St most days. Soon you'll see me with the twins in the Burley! More human clutter on the bike path!
