I am down for whatever...I could remember the time...I thought I asked.

So is everyone good for an 8:30 roll?

went back and looked at last years thread and it looks like the plan was to roll out at 0830. I think I got there in time leaving my house at 0600 with a stop for breakfast so I'll try that again this year.

0830 is good for me. I need to get on the road back towards NC in the afternoon. I'm staying close by at the Hampton Inn so I can roll at any time.

8:30 or earlier is fine with me. I'm over at the Holiday, so it should just be a short ride to the line, right?

Anyone found a cheap hotel yet? The best I've seen is the Holiday Inn at $98/night. I'm wondering if we'll be able to keep the bikes in the room.

You don't ask about keeping bikes in the room, you just do it.

WTF?!?!? that is $5 cheaper than I am paying for a room there...

The Holiday Inn is like .5 mile from the start and it is all down hill to the start.

+1. Never asked, never had a problem. I've even walked my bike to the front desk when I checked in without a problem. Of course the hotel was full of cyclists for an event and everyone was doing it. But I don't see a problem anyway.

Okay, that's weird... now I'm getting the same rate as you. Maybe I had the wrong Holiday Inn?

So is everyone good for an 8:30 roll?

The earlier the better! Could be a pretty hot day again, and there are very few shaded sections in the route.

Also, last coupla' years Mirona or I took care of putting the cell # list together - I'll be happy to do it again this year; I'm pretty close by, so I can get there early.

Just pm it all to me and I'll compile it (and I promise not to stalk anyone)

Think about the ID idea and a possible afternoon meet-n-greet for anyone who misses the group at the start . . .

Yes, it was with my riding partner's (and the guy who put the route together) Garmin. The comparisons were solid with other's estimates and stats.

Beautiful rollers, lots of big sky -

Here's a preview:

^^ looks great.

If this ride is going to be so crowded, might I suggest we get as early a start as can be mustered?

It takes me about an hour and a half to get home from downtown Baltimore, and I live 10 or so miles Northwest of the start spot. So I'd say give yourself a bit over 2 hours and it should be doable. Google maps says 2 hours 22 min...so take that how you will.

Don't forget slow down for parking and registration.

I'm all for 8:30 - but IIRC, we tried for 8:30 last year and didn't leave until 9am. Granted, we had some snafus, like S'dex's seatpost clamp.

Then we should definitely shoot for 8:30. If we shoot for 9 we won't leave until 9:30

I agree. I say we try to roll out at 8:30. After last year's ride a few of us went out to an early dinner and had a bunch of laughs. I'll be there early Saturday afternoon, so let's get another casual Saturday ride together if possible.

An 8:30 a.m. start is fine with me, especially if the Summer weather stays the way it has been for most of the past two months. If the forecast during that weekend is mid-eighties or higher, we will probably roll at the earliest possible hour (7:30, I think).

Nice, Mirona! It'll be great to see you two again.

I'll be up for dinner after the ride again. . . Saturday will not work for me; daughter's 16th bday party

I might be riding a road bike by then. Otherwise I'll be on a Trek Navigator.

I personally vote for an EARLY start meet at 8-8:15, roll at 8:30.
Or earlier. I want ice cream. :-)

No, Neilfein, the other half of Neils on Wheels, doesn't wear a jersey. This Neil will be wearing his Fat Cyclist jersey, for obvious reasons.

Depends. If you get the road bike, you'll probably blow me and my knobby-clad MTB away. You've been pushing The Beast for long enough that you're gonna be scary fast on a lighter bike.
