Hey I would like to come, I would be a noob to Md. I am moving to Waldorf on the 23rd of August. It would be nice to meet some new people. How far is Poolesville from Waldorf?

Can't do the 15th/16th (but if that's the best date overall, no big deal), could probably do the others. Does the August date conflict w/the Reston century?

Cool, so is anyone else good for Sept 15th/16th?

And if so, would you rather do a Saturday or a Sunday?

Either 15 or 16. Work may interfer at the last minute, but that's too far off to tell.

Could plan for saturday and have sunday as a rain-date.

Good idea. The 15th it is!

I'll prepare cue sheets and directions to the house. I think we have parking for around a dozen cars. 4 or 5 in the driveway, and the rest along the street. Not sure how many we'll have, so maybe we can do one of those count things.

Add your name if you're in.

Looks in ......but only if there is a shorter ride with less hills.

Hopefully there will be at least one or two old, slow guys (gals) to ride with.

Basically we'll have two routes. A 60-ish mile ride with a few nasty hills, and a 45-ish one with only one hill of any consequence. My idea is to have myself lead the long ride and have my wife Jessica lead the short ride. I'll have cue sheets for both, and there are other shorter options for those who want one.

Bobby had a great idea, and that was to have different groups, like an "A" group for people who want to do the ride faster, and a "B" group for those who want to take their time. Since Bobby knows the route well, he could lead one group and I could lead the other.

We'll see how it goes once we get a better head count.

So, so far:

You're supposed to copy the list when you add your name.

Like this:

Paul (cydewaze)
Jessica (juf2m)
Bill (wj13us)
Bobby (bobby_c)
Matt (Gurana)
Ken (cc_rider)

Then the next person copies that and adds his name to the end. Otherwise we end up having to scan through each page to count and we end up missing people.

Here's a routeslip plot of the 60 and 45 mile routes. Our actual starting point will be different (and the mileage will be a little higher) but the majority of the ride follows these routes.

Also note that both routes are around 90% the same, with an added section for the longer ride.

Riskus, where do you ride? I live in Kingstowne
I typically ride from franconia rd out buelah road to telegraph across route 1 and make a left at the stop sign and head down to gunston. If I turn around and go straight back its like 28 miles. Sometimes on the way back I make a right on route 1 and take it to mount vernon and take the gw parkway into old town and make my way back via eisenhower.

There is an actual possibility I could make this, so I'm adding myself to the list. Looks like around a 3 hour drive to the Poolesville area. It takes me 4 1/2 hours to drive home from Lancaster after the ride, so this would be a cake walk.

btw, I just made a routeslip of the exact route we'll be taking, and it turns out to be exactly 62 miles (figuring in for the "straight line" fudge you get from these map plotting programs).

Here it is: https://www.routeslip.com/routes/57396

Just over 3300' of climbing.

If anyone wants to do the shorter route, I'll routeslip that as well. I'll also have cue sheets made up, so you don't have to memorize the map.
