Looking for New Jerseyans

Just thought I'd pop in and see if there's anyone lurking here from the northern NJ Butler/Bloomingdale/Riverdale/Pompton Lakes area.

Tensen 11-18-07 06:59 PM

I'm in lodi, but i occasionally ride up in that area

nismosr 11-18-07 10:02 PM

Edison here .. rides around morris area.

neilfein 11-26-07 11:17 AM

Edison. I recently rode up to New Hope from East Windsor, does that count?

Marrock 11-26-07 11:51 AM

As long as you're from Jersey, it counts. ;)

I'm just tired of seeing all the SoCal stuff and trying to get some east coast representation going.

JunkYardBike 11-27-07 07:54 PM

The fabled Clinton Road? I grew up in Kinnelon, now reside in Budd Lake.

Marrock 11-27-07 08:25 PM

I grew up on Cross Road, about two minutes away from (the fabled) Clinton Road, now I'm stuck in Riverdale trying to come up with good reasons to ride and find something decent to ride on.

Hey slick Sussex County guy here.

I ride in the Sussex/Morris county area both road & mountain. This is my first time onthe forum...

Marrock 12-10-07 09:07 PM

Welcome to the forums, if you're ever down Riverdale way keep an eye out for the lunatic on the Mongoose with a trailer riding in the snow... that'll be me. ;)

*Bump!*
Sgt. Pepper reporting from Somerset Co.!

Marrock 01-04-08 10:12 PM

One more county accounted for...

Come on guys we have to represent the east coast here, show them not everyone on this forum is from california.

otep12 01-05-08 07:23 AM

I'm in Essex Co. - Belleville to be exact.

Team Somerset rides leave Duke Island Park in Bridgewater, NJ every Sat/Sun at 10 AM depending on weather. Usually 2-3 hour ride. Somerset is a racing team so the rides are a bit brisk and, as time goes by and the new season gets closer, get more brisk. Bring a map!

Is "Team Somerset" the same organization as the Somerset Wheelmen? I don't see "Team Somerset" on USA Cycling's list.
After hearing that I might consider them in my options for a club\team to join. I haven't done that yet.

Duke Island Park is only 7.6 mi (according to Google Maps) from me!

(I'm in Bound Brook.)

Marrock 01-05-08 07:35 PM

I don't race, I meander. ;)

grunzster 01-06-08 02:55 PM

I'm in Budd Lake, just moved up here from Somerset, so I haven't really figured out where to ride up here yet, except maybe on the rollers I just picked up.

And a couple good mailing lists for info are at:
https://email.rutgers.edu/mailman/listinfo/nj_bikeped
http://groups.google.com/group/walkbikejersey

Also, I hope anyone from the Garden State that feels like it joins those lists because we're always looking for new people and the groups are definitely worth the time.

You forgot one of the best links: http://www.njbikemap.com/

Lots of great riding near Budd Lake, as long as you like hills. Unfortunately, we're at the top of the hill, so the last leg is always the worst. I've got some routes saved on a couple mapping websites, so if you're interested, PM me for them.

Well of course I'd miss the obvious one.

What, did you think I knew what I was doing? ;)

Hey, that makes two of us! By the way, you're not the only meanderer in NJ. I bet I could out-meander you! :)

I found that site via Google a couple months back and had no idea how to read the maps.

I just found the legend today. :D

You're on! Last one there wins...

Marrock 01-07-08 10:39 AM

Well, Budd Lake is about thirty miles away, so you should be able to make it here in an hour or so, right?
