1010 Wins is reporting that police "found" a new 10 speed bike in the trash on Madison Avenue and 38th. Also, Mexican and the British consulate were bombed by a cyclist in recent months. NYPD is wondering if there might be a connection.

Streetsblog is reporting a crackdown on bicyclists already - just in time for some nice weather. Thanks NYPD!

I've dreaded this for a while now. Actually, I've been dreading it ever since I realized just how free and unimpeded cycling around the city is. It'll either be this, or they'll confine us to bike lanes once they're done with disposing of all that paint into the city's door zones.

Oh, please. You might as well suggest that the cops will crack down on people wearing hoodies. NYPD already has a habit of periodically stepping up enforcement, so it's highly unlikely they're related.
It's not like we're living in Burma/Myanmar, where the generals outlawed motorcycles because they were concerned that they could be used in assassination attempts... |
