Can I cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge?
Hey everyone, I'll be riding from Ohio to Delaware this summer and I'm trying to get an idea of how I want to get there. I have a place to stay in Baltimore if needed. Ideally, I would stay there and ride across the bridge into Delaware, but I've heard rumors that you can't cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on a bike. Is this true? Should I plan on riding around the bay? Thanks

If you're staying in baltimore... just connect to Delaware from up there. Why would you try to cycle over to the Bay Bridge to cross it.
Sorry, to answer your question... no you can't ride over the Bay Bridge. Of all the times i've driven across it, i've never seen anything but motor vehicles. There is no shoulder on either span.

No you can't ride across the Bay Bridge. However if you cann in advance, the police can give you a ride across.
Don't try riding around it either. The Sequehanna Bridge north of Baltimore (Aberdeen) also prohibits riding across. The police will give you a ride there as well.

No, you aren't allowed on the Chesapeake bay bridge on a bike.
I have not tried it personally, but I've heard of bikers stopping at the last convenience stores/gas stations before the bridge and soliciting rides from kindly pick up truck drivers.
Then further north, you cannot get across the rt.40 bridge in Havre de Grace, but there is a bike shop there that can take you across for a small fee.
Then further north is I 95 and that is a definite "no-go"
Then further north is the Conowingo dam/route 1 where you can legally cross, but I've heard the riding is hectic with traffic.
North of that is route 372/Holtwood- further north than you might want to be, but a nicer crossing.
