Anyone interested in riding after work ?
Hi I've been a lurker for a few years and am now interested in riding in the city. Anyone interested in meeting to ride ? I'm a male 48 years old- not interested in any funny business just people that want to get in shape and make friends.

If no one responds to you on this forum, try posting in the Northeast Regional Forum. You can also check with your LBS's to see if they have any club rides you could hook up with.

icc,
My friend and I are going to start doing laps in Central Park as soon as he gets his new bike (sometime in June). I think I'll be doing it a minimum of 2-3 times a week after work, depending on how often my gf lets me.
Once we start, I'll pm you and let you know when/where/how often. If I forget and early June comes and goes, feel free to pm me as well.

I'm almost always looking to ride but I have to have advance notice due to some health issues and preparing my body. So if you're looking for some friends to ride with, count me in but you'll have to take it easy on me. There are times when I can bike for days and there are times when my body just won't cooperate...

If you're really looking to train you might do better joining the NY Cycling Club or Kissena Cycling Club among other local roadie racers.
If you're just looking to ride without commitment, there's usually a thread or two that pops up with random rides within Manhattan and sometimes Brooklyn.
As long as the weather is nice, I'm out at Prospect Park after 7PM for an hour or so after work. PM if you want to join.

FYI, central park is open to vehicular traffic mon-fri from 5-7pm, normally on the east side so you'll have to battle through some of it on the south east of the loop all the way north on the east side until about the 90s when it thins out.
Most of all of my CP rides are weekend mornings when there aren't any races. A good week day after work ride for me is hammering down to battery park (from UWS 70s) then back up all the way on the greenway to GWB. You can also come out of the park after trump towers (w72nd) and take riverside all the way up which is a bit more challenging (climbing wise), otherwise the greenway should take you the whole way up.

sorry - cross post - are you in Manhattan? Outer boroughs?
next wed. May 20 there will be a TA table at the Queens side of the QB Bridge around 6-7PM (giving out free lights and bells, etc). From there we're gonna ride to Queens Green Drinks at the Queens Museum of Art (in Flushing Corona Park). Should be a fun time - and a good opportunity to stop and say hello ... I am thinking a big group of us will ride over there from the bridge so pls stop by and say hello.
You can catch the 7 back home to Manhattan easily from the Museum, btw
