Anyone doing Hat City Cyclefest in Bethel CT. June 14th ?

Hi All,

Link:

https://www.active.com/page/Event_Det...c-63f504b81b0a

I've done this ride a few times...the 80 mile route. It's very pretty, especially the section in Dutchess County, NY. Rest stops are well stocked....They even have a few mechanics who will tweak your bike if necessary.

Anyone ?

J.

I have done this ride for the past three years (100, 100 and 70) but can't make it this year. I really enjoy the ride and will miss doing it. Speaking of mechanical help, the first time I did it my derailleur cable snapped and I was toughing it out on the hills north to the Gaylordsville rest stop where it was replaced for nothing.

Have fun.

Did you ever do the New Haven century? June 28th 2009.

It is a very nice ride, the registration was free the last 2 years I did it but this year there is a fee.

Relatively flat, it is the big clockwise loop around NH, it is a very scenic ride and I am sorry not to be able to do it again this year.

We're thinking of do this ride on Sunday June 13th 2010.
Does anyone have information on the Hat City Cyclefest routes? The Hat city website doesn't show any information on the routes at all. We're particularly interested in the 80 mile route and if it's tandem friendly? Hills are fine but our gearing currently on the tandem isn't good at hills over 13-15%.

I am signed to do the ride this year. I've done the 80 mile route several times in the past. There are some hills but nothing crazy like the 13-15% you refer to. Keep your fingers crossed with the stupid weather...

I was thinking about coming down for it, but I think I'm going to pass because of the ifffy weather. I did a century last weekend in the pouring rain (a cancer fundraiser) and don't feel like a long, damp ride for a second weekend in a row.

Hah ! I posted a thread earlier this week about having signed up for the MS Bike Tour in Windsor and then not riding because of the bad forecast that morning and that I felt bad about it.....you are the other side of my argument.

Right now they're saying chance of pop up showers on both Sat & Sun. It's actually pretty rare that we have showers first thing in the morning. Usually they don't boil over until the afternoon. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
