Anybody here ever ride the Bruckner?

And am I crazy for doing it? I'm an avid golfer and I play at Pelham/Split rock and live on the UES. I decided that I'd try to ride up there and left my clubs in my friends car (he works at the course so he's there everyday). I didn't really know the best/safest way to go so I just went up 3rd ave, over the 3rd ave bridge and to the bruckner. I ended up taking the bruckner all the way up (the blvd not the expwy obviously) and I gotta say, it wasn't a bad ride! I was worried the road conditions would be terrible but they weren't that bad. There was one section between white plains rd. and castle hill ave where they are getting ready to repave the road so the pavement was grooved. I just got on the sidewalk there. It was 12.5 miles and took me 54 minutes, 50 minutes of riding time. Honestly, I typically take the 6 train to pelham bay, then either have to time it perfectly to catch a bus that drops me off at the course or else take a $10 cab ride all said and done, round trip I spend between $15 and $25 to get to/from the course and it takes well over an hour!

I knew there was supposed to be a bike path on the Hutch that would cover the last 5 miles or so but didn't see it on the way up, on the way back as I got near the whitestone cinemas I found it. Next time I ride up I'll try taking that path. For those who don't know pelham split rock is in Pelham Bay Park and there are some other bike paths through that park and of course you have orchard beach and City Island which is an underrated place in the city in my opinion.

oh yeah, I walked 18 after and shot a 79, not too shabby! Rode home and then had to teach bootcamp in central park and ran another 2 miles or so! I've invented a new kind of triathlon!

The path along the Hutch was never in great condition. It goess under the Hutch and depending on tides could be full of mud and broken glass as some would hang out there for parties. The path can be found easily if you ride the Pelham Pkway paths and look for the last overpass, the path is on the North side. You would be beter off going along Pelham Parkway all the way to the beach.

The Bruckner?
I assume the service roadway.
Not your best choice, but avoid rush hour and do it during daylight.
