Hi, LCB riders!
I was there, riding with a large group from our local club/organized rides. We rolled at 7:30 sharp, with about 15 of us in the group.
Keeping a group that large together was no easy task, but we did it... and managed a 17.5 avg despite the wind, rain, and crowds in some spots.
With the cooler temps, we only stopped at one rest stop plus the lunch stop... and were back to the start in 3:55 (minus 24 minutes of stop time).
Quite a bit different tempo and tone from the way I've ridden this ride in past years... and truth is, I prefer the more social tone and pace for this one.
To ride for any sort of speed, with a big group, is dangerous...there are just too many different paces and riding styles out there on the road together to mix it up quite like we did.

But.... no one went down, the legs felt good, the water bottles and bike were disgustingly encrusted with Amish road spray... and it was allllllll good

Next year!

Beth

Hope everyone enjoyed the ride. I missed it this year after having a collision with another cyclist on Saturday's ride. My road bike probably needs too much work to be worth fixing, so I'm test riding new bikes. I know, any excuse for N+1.

I too, was running a bit late, but had a wonderful time. I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to meet some of our fellow Bikeforums riders, maybe next time. Well here is a quick shot before the monsoons started.

I also noticed quite a few people with flats this year. I didn't witness any falls, or flashing ambulance lights this year. I had my share of flats (3 of them) on a club ride a couple weeks ago, so I feel for those folks. They all seemed prepared to fix them on their own which is a good thing.

Good pic! Cool jersey! I think I would've recalled seeing that one out there if we had been on the same stretch of road. Perhaps another day!

Sure, I've added the link below for ya to check it out. Three things I know so far
1) The starting location for 2011 has been changed.
2) Registration will start sometime in April.
3) Ride date is August 21st.

Lancaster, Covered Bridge Metric

I was bummed out about the date change for this year. I am already preregistered for the LiveStrong Challenge on the same day.
