Erie Canal Information
My friends and I are biking the Erie Canal from Buffalo to Syracuse next week. We are new to the canal and know only what we can learn from books and web sites. So, for anyone who is currently riding the trail from Buffalo to Syracuse, is there anything that we should know about trail construction, dangerous spots, places not to miss, great restaurants...? Thanks

If you want to eat in Rochester, when you get to the Genesee River, make a right turn onto the Genesee Riverway Trail which takes you a few miles into downtown. The trail ends at Court Street. Walk across the Court Street bridge over the Genesee River and eat at Dinosaur BBQ.

And if you like Dinosaur BBQ the canal route goes nearthe original Dinosaur BBQ in Downtown Syracuse. The "trail" through Syracuse is all on roads routing right into downtown and by the Erie Canal Musem in the existing weighlock building. Enjoy your ride.
