Climbing near Rochester?
I'm new in the Rochester area and I've noticed a few things, one of them being that Rochester is REALLY flat. Anyone know any good climbs within an hour or two driving distance of Rochester? Thanks in advance.

Head south.
I used to live on Canandaigua Lake.
A ride around the lake has good climbing... and the Naples area is full of hills.
Look for West Lake Road, Seneca Point Rd., Bopple Hill Road, Gannett Hill Rd., Co Rd. 12 Bristol Springs Rd.
If you don't mind dirt you can head to Parish Hill Rd. on the south end of the lake.
Heading down to Hemlock Lake is good too.
Look for this ride:

There are some pretty serious hills on the west side of the bay:

Join the Rochester Bicycling Club. It's $20 a year, your card gets you discounts at all the LBSs, and you'll get a CD with nearly 400 maps on it.
Sort the list by rating, (Legs of Steel Hilly, Exceptionally Hilly, Very Hilly, just plain Hilly, Small Hills, Moderate, Rolling, or Flat.) The list also shows miles and feet of climbing. Pick your poison, and have at it.
As others have said, south and east of the city is where the hills live.
EDIT: As I recall, joining after September first gets you membership for the whole following year as well.
