Half-naked, psychotic senior citizen attacked a cyclist

https://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/q...mhabT6erkmBB5L

A half-naked, psychotic senior citizen attacked a cyclist on the Queensboro Bridge early this morning, sources said.

The 65-year-old lunatic ran across the bike path on the span’s lower level and punched a 35-year-old biker at around 6:45 a.m., according to sources.

Police were called to restrain the crazed man, who was wearing pants but no shirt, sources added.

The male victim suffered a split lip and and was taken to Cornell Hospital for his injuries, according to sources.

The attacker was taken to Elmhurst Hospital for psychiatric evaluation, sources added.

The scene on the Queensboro Bridge this morning.

“On the bridge, there are opportunities for people to jump out from hiding spots and attack you,” said cyclist Robert Marcus, 52, of Riverdale, who was riding to his job in Jamaica and was shocked to hear of the assault. “That it happened during daylight is very unnerving.”

The attack was apparently unprovoked and sources described the man as an “emotionally disturbed person.”

The police activity closed the lower level of the bridge for about an hour, causing traffic backups during the morning rush hour.

“Once you’re on the bridge, there’s no exit. You’re directly confronted by what’s in front of you,” said massage therapist Cody Landis, 36, who rides from Sunnyside to the Upper West Side. “It’s not a place where smart criminals would do anything, because basically you’re trapped.”

That's a pretty creepy place to ride in the first place.

@Bacciagalupe - You felt the need to say this, why?

Seen alot of stuff that would be considered weird elsewhere. Pretty mellow. Could have been alot worse.

I was the Robert Marcus quoted in the article.
The funny thing is I do not believe the slasher was nuts.
I mean how could he since all week it was like 25-30 degrees and 45degrees that day, obviously he waited for things to warm up.
That would be appear to be a well thought out thing to do.

As the doctor was sewing up my lip after an accident I had just short of the Queensboro Bridge, she was telling me about this guy too. I had thirteen stitches. While the doctor was absolutely stunning, I see stunning on the subway too, but I don't need to have my lip stitched to see it. She asked if I wanted my tongue sewn back too, as it was hanging to the floor.

What a terrible article. You think they could have hidden their prejudices better, "Psychotic, lunatic, crazed"????
